Abstract
:
Developing an innovative curriculum, based on modern principles of learning, is on the rise globally. This is also the scenario in Saudi Arabia where a number of medical schools are either in the process of developing an innovative curriculum or implementing it. College of Medicine and Medical sciences (CMMS) at Taif University is one of those which has an indigenous and modern curriculum in the phase of development and implementation. The faculty plays a pivot role in the proper implementation of the curriculum so that the gap between the null, hidden and operational curricula is minimized. This paper starts with defining faculty development and its various facets and goes on to explain why and how CMMS is carrying out its faculty development program and the benefits of the program. It also talks about the issues to take of while planning and executing such a program for the faculty members.
